The AMO Tecnis Symfony extended range lens is the newest lens technology to offer patients greater independence from glasses for distance, intermediate, and near vision.
Some multifocal lenses can causing glare and haloes and can compromise the quality of distance vision in terms of contrast sensitivity and colour vision perception. The Symfony lens has an innovative new design of diffractive rings that results in no loss of distance visual quality whilst allowing unaided intermediate and near vision. Studies of the lens reveals a very low risk of haloes and glare which was comparable to a standard mono-focal lens. The lens showed excellent unaided distance vision in 100% of patients, intermediate vision in 94% and near vision in 87% of patients.
